Today marked the start of Google I/O, the search giant’s annual developer conference. And while in the past this was the occasion that saw a new Android version announced, this year we only got a quick recap of the most important new features coming in Android N, since the first developer preview for that iteration came a couple of months back. Oh, and there was also the big Daydream announcement, let’s not forget.
Now that Google has basically released the first beta version of Android N and said the final software will be rolling out to Nexus devices later this summer, you might be wondering if your current non-Nexus smartphone is going to get the update.
The good news is that the answer is definitely yes if you have the HTC 10, One M9, or One A9. This info comes straight from the Taiwanese company’s official Twitter account. Unfortunately though there isn’t yet a timeline to speak of for the rollout of the Android N update to these three HTC handsets. That will be announced later on, once “Google ships Android N to manufacturers”, according to the small print in the image you can see above.
The list isn’t final either, as more devices may be added to it. But for now what’s certain is that HTC’s latest two flagships as well as the upper mid-range One A9 will all taste Android N,whatever it will end up being called.
