For those of us who thought Gauri Khan, Sussanne Khan, Twinkle Khanna and Sakshi Dhoni had only their superstar husbands in common – it’s time to think again!

Most of us thought that Gauri Khan, Sussanne Khan and Twinkle Khanna had only one thing in common – their star wife status. They are or were all married to superstars. Whether on screen or on the field, their husbands (ex in Sussanne Khan’s case) have made a roaring name for themselves. But their husbands aren’t the only ones making waves because of their talent. Gauri Khan, Sussanne Khan, Twinkle Khanna and now Sakshi Dhoni have made quite a splash in the interior design industry. From designing homes for some of the biggest names in the country to endorsing brands on their own merit and looking fabulous on magazine covers – these women have succeeded in breaking the stereotypical “star wife” act.
1. The Charcoal Project – Sussanne Khan
Sussanne Khan started her concept store and design studio, The Charcoal Project, in 2011. Other than running this store, Sussanne has also partnered with Bipasha Basu and Malaika Khan to create an e-commerce website – The Label Life – for which she serves as the Style Editor, House and Home.
2. Gauri Khan Designs – Gauri Khan
For most of her life, Gauri Khan has been known as Shah Rukh Khan’s wife. While that’s something that’ll always stand out for most people (Shah Rukh is considered a legend, after all), Gauri Khan’s work has really spoken for itself in the last few years. After numerous décor and design projects for her celebrity buddies – including Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar – Gauri Khan has opened her spanking new flagship store, Gauri Khan Designs.
3. The White Window – Twinkle Khanna
Mrs. Funnybones has more than just funny bones in her body. She’s full of talent and wit – but who knew it could extend all the way to fabulous home decor and designs. While Twinkle Khanna has succeeded in leaving us stunned with her speeches, tweets and books, her design sensibility makes us want to add another star to her already shining (imaginary) armour.
4. Sakshi Dhoni – InstadecorIndia
Her husband, M.S Dhoni, might be scoring centuries on the field, but Sakshi Dhoni seems to have found her own calling. Following the lead of the other star wives, Sakshi recently started InstadecorIndia, in an attempt to create beautiful homes in Ranchi. Well, congratulations Sakshi Dhoni and more power to these star wives!
