Like most phones, Motos marched to the beat of the large-screen drummer, but all is not lost. The Moto X (2016) – yes, it seems the X-series isn’t as dead as we thought – is real and it’s coming.
The XT1662 was certified by the CCC (China Compulsory Certificate for imported products). A few months ago that exact same model passed through GFX Bench.
There it showed a 4.6″ 1080p screen, “Android Google Play Edition” software, a 16MP/2160p main camera and 8MP/1080p selfie cam. Somewhat disappointingly, it uses a MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) chipset and has only 3GB of RAM.
There’s another “Moto X” in the rumor mill, one with a 5.5″ QHD screen and Snapdragon 820. Both models are rumored to feature a thin, modular design, similar to the Moto Z. Neither has been officially confirmed.
