New Verizon Galaxy S6/S6 edge update fixes bug that triggers unintentional Factory Data Reset

Verizon has started rolling out a new update to Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge units on its network. The update is aimed at fixing a software bug that triggers “unintentional device Factory Data Reset (FDR) after multiple failed attempts to use a fingerprint to unlock the device.”

With the update, it will now take as many as 15 failed unlock attempts for the device to initiate a FDR – users will have 10 tries to unlock the device using their fingerprint, and 5 tries to use their back-up PIN or password.

The update bumps the software version to MMB29K.G920VVRU4CPF2 for the Galaxy S6 and MMB29K.G925VVRU4CPF2 for the edge variant.
