Modern Tropical Minimalist House by Studio MK27

When enjoying the tropical climate and luscious surrounding the architecture and design seems to have an easy task to create inviting, intriguing and comfortable dwelling. At least, the modern Brazilian designers make it look so. But in reality, considering the harsh climate conditions: heat, constant salty breeze, humidity and so on; the composition of a modern home, the choice of durable materials and the elegant final outlook are a challenge worthy for the best architects and designers. This creation of Studio MK27 and Marcio Kogan located on the northern coast of São Paulo has it all – architectural grace and memorable character, functionality combined with contemporary expression and the elegance of well-arranged space.

The White House consist of two minimalistic volumes, composing the two floors – the ground one that opens towards the surrounding beautiful gardens and swimming pool, is hosting all the social areas of the house, and the top floor is designed for the more privet quarters and spaces. But that’s not all; the architects had arranged a terrace garden with deck on the roof, which is almost secretly accessible by a round glass hatch door. The interior design is stylish, contemporary and open, creating the impression of calm, clean premises with sophisticated tropical minimalism. Combining warm material palette of wood, concrete and white aluminum: resistible to the effects of a sea air; with the restrained shapes and arrangements of Brazilian modernism the designers achieve an inviting and elegant premises composition.

Impressionable features of the design become the floor-to-ceiling windows, the wooden lattice frames, the matching freshness of the wooden furniture elements and current lighting solutions. Juxtaposing the warmth of the wooden details, the purity of the concrete structures and the softness of the upholstered furnishing the designers create one well balanced and organic ambiance. The color palette enhances this expression of tropical ease, with its litheness, repeatable pattern of gray, sky-sea blue, wooden beige tonalities and the refreshing presence of living plants and white elements.   Photographs: Fernando Guerra | FG+SG
